What a delirious beginning. Raise a prince, train him in everything - not to use him in politics (at least marry him to strengthen his bond with some vassal), not to send him to the army, but just to kick him out... The political map is basically absent. The plot was written by a brain donor.
I've seen this before too and would like to rant again.
It's magic right? Do the fire mage need existing fire to make their spells work? Do the water mages need water to make their spells work? Then why does he as a sand mage need sand to work? That's just pure bullshit and is so, just because the author said so...
Not sure how I feel about this, a lot of things just seem to be glossed over and don't make sense. Why are there goblins in the desert, no food or shelter for them? How is he instantly mastering his magic, no practice at all?
I think this is quite refreshing in that the mc goes into action straight away. It colors his character brightly thats rather pleasant compared to the usual banished into depression that could have a different vibe if the mc wasnt so much of a wuss when theyre actually op.
There are "banished for being weak" series that I like. This isn't one of them. He can conjure up a whole castle with ease? How long did it take him to learn that? And can mages with other elements, like earth (if this is different from sand) or ice, learn this just as easily?
I think its your mistake to use logic in the banishment setting. Theyre always banished for stupid reasons + theyre always actually op. It was also implied that people were expecting a lot from him because he got a capable background or something, particularly they mentioned having big mana reserve.
For me this is just a refreshing direction and vibe for the banishment genre. Theyre always so badly stupid in the being OP but a wuss, or the reason for banishment is never a proper reason but just plot setting convenient. If theyre going to go with all that anyways, making it straight forward start like this one should be considered as a positive. Im actually very curious how you could take this that negatively when banishment setting is one of the trashiest manga setting.
