I'm kind of with you about the tone shifts, why are they being friendly to literal murderers? We've seen the backstory, the child literally died, yet Hayate still acts friendly to those fuckers.

Lot of strong feelings whether this is good or bad but, honestly... I think this is just alright. Like, I didn't love it, there were parts that I didn't really like, but I didn't really hate it either. I think my main personal gripe is just that... I never actually ended up liking many of the characters. Weirdly enough, my favorite character is probably Kyouka, so I actually really liked seeing her relationship unfold. But some of the characters I didn't really care for... were Hayate and Honey Trap. So I didn't really care that much for them getting together. Usually this can be helped by them being cute and in love after getting together, but their relationship really become an afterthought after they get together.

Still a good manga, though, and I get if it's one of your favorites and I also get if you think it's bad. But, at least for me personally, it's just a 6/10 and that's fine by me. If everything were a 10/10, then it'd make me appreciate stories like Bloom Into You or The Summer You Were There much less.
