Especially with massive casualties. There shouldn't be enough people to eat everything and if you can find food in the rubble, you'll find tons.

Unironically, a veterenarian is a much better choice in a survival settings than doctor, they go through the same education meaning they also know the general human anatomy especially needed for what it seems to be just an external wounds.

They also tends to use/make use of unconventional tools since most of their treatments are varied to begin with, meaning they are familiar to make use of the available tools.

Obviously for things like illnesses or a more complex operation a doctor is much preferred but for a general doctor with a limited resources they are not inferior.

Though physical anesthesia is not advisable.. 🥀
