Huh... He turned her away far more readily than I was initially expecting. I suppose he did learn his lessons with Honoka, then. To be fair, it's not the first time he's turned her away, or turned his back on her. He seems far more conscious of things than he did at the start of this volume, as if he was seeing clearer than he had while actually being with Suzuka... again, a case of him not realizing what he had, and what he had to do, as he was blinded by the current state of things and how 'nice' it seemed, and not how it could grow to be more, with the right effort.

Suzuka was the one putting effort into their relationship, but he actually wasn't. He was fooling himself into thinking he was with the part-time job, but he just convinced himself it was a necessary thing. At no point did Suzuka say he should be doing it, just that she was fine with it and understood his reasoning. Sure, she could have been gentler with how she was with him, but they honestly seemed really nice a lot more, to me, than they didn't, especially before the part-time job came into the picture.
