Why are you still thinking about her? It's pretty obvious, to be honest. Your feelings haven't gone away. The same feelings that have been there and grown since the very beginning of the story. The whole reason this story exists. The very title.
As if anything else was going to happen. They even tried to throw in a childhood friend that was treated as a personal history footnote way back when, and even revised the narrative so she never actually rejected him. In fact, she still hasn't outright rejected the confession- she just said it was 'disgusting'. She didn't say 'no'.
It's rather hilarious how Yamato fools himself time and time again. But, well... the end has been preordained since that very first scene. It's just a matter of how that end comes about, and the exact form of that end... It's not multiple choice- it's just all wrong choices until he makes the right choices, and becomes who he is meant to be while ending up with her.
