The civil war between the Taira (or Heikei) clan and Minamoto (or Genji) clan would be called
the Genpei War. After the Minamoto clan's victory, Minamoto no Yoritomo would go on to establish the first shogunate, Kamakura. This was the beginning of the feudal state in Japan, which lasted until the Meiji Restoration.
