Royals are usually hands-off with their children as long as they don't do something incredibly stupid like say trying to rape the daughter of the countries most powerful general. Also, you can't blame a parent for their child's mental illness.

Where did the queen came from to protect him from the cup? Is she originally from chess to be appearing from the other side of the board like that?

Why did they bandage him above the hair? That just looks like a kid's mummy costume.

That scene doesn't really make sense in manga. Not only she appeared out of nowhere, but a shard somehow managed to ricochet to him (even though Empress is higher than him) and the wound appeared behind the hair. The bandages are also above the mentioned wound.

In the Web Novel, he tanked the glass himself. It made more sense that he got a nasty wound and why he got that bandages
