sorry but he wasn't honorable nor "selfless" like sou said. he was out for himself and didn't want takebe to be top dog even with the new master. he only repented when takebe bowed before him (meaning that takebe himself did not wish to use the new master as a puppet and truly cared for the household) and when he saw the people that should kill sou had been tamed by their target.

bro knew that he had no more position now that sou had showed he possessed the charisma needed of a leader. there was no way for him to survive properly with sou as the family head with what he had done so he left very honorably (seppuku without beheading).

dude did the best thing that he could have done to not lose even more honor
