i hope its more fight than backstories
yeah that was a big problem with shuumatsu no valkyrie it really slowed down the fights , and the fights were already pretty slow. I think so far he's getting the balance right, a bit of fighting and a bit of backstory each chapter.
In general a problem with these one-on-one hero revival tournament manga is that there's no opportunity for interaction between the heroes outside of the one-on-one fights , which makes it a bit monotonous and dull . And often they try to compensate for that by adding huge backstories in the middle of the fight , but backstories are rarely fully satisfying because you kind of know the outcome and you know that the results only relate to one of the characters (unless there is a shared backstory) , so you still don't scratch that itch of interaction between the different characters.
I think a format that captures more of the potential of these "resurrected heroes" stories is if the heroes are resurrected then given a quest to go on like Fate/Zero or Drifters. then you get to see the heroes interact with each other, choose who to makee alliances with as well as fight each other.
But I guess the tournament format is more direct and easier to pull off. It's harder to keep an audience interested when you're telling them about the world and talking when you could be showing them a fight.
