The funny thing with goblins is they went from funny little tricksters to satan himself after certain groups wanted them to be that way for ease of "haha evil creature". Can't blame asians for goblins being that way, but humans? Yeah, screw each and every author pulling that stunt.

I don't know the whole evil rape goblin thing wasn't very prolific before the Asian western fantasy genre. Before that the dark fantasy goblins were like a green tide of Berserking savages who will kill and plunder everything or worse, bankers.

i don't mind goblins being all evil. It' whatever. But in every romcom EVER there's a moment the FMC is left alone for like, 2 secods, and EVERY.TIME. She'll get approached by 1 or more grapists IMMEDIATELY. Like. I know it CAN happen but it doesn't mean it HAS TO 100% of the time every time! It's so insanely cheap and lazy. It's the easiest way to establish the MMC as a protector and to vilify every single other potential love interest because all young men that arent' MMC are literally going to grape and kill the FMC any chance they get. I hate it.

Yeah idk where this trend came from either it's honestly boring at this point.
It happens in western dark fantasy too though but that's mostly due to the false stereotype of the actual middle ages having some sort of extreme moral problems. It's like the whole myth that people in the middle ages didn't bathe everyday and care about hygiene (which they did)
