Yup, it is like adding the final boss as the plucky sidekick, but everyone knows they are the final boss, but not that the other knows they are the final boss. and he has to make up lies to mantain the apperance that he does not know or explain why he does weird things from time to time.
and he can not get rid of the murder "angel" either.

IIRC, it has been a year, in the WN he gets an ability combo that lets him sever someone's conneciton to an angel, might have also killed the angel but not 100% on that part, the opponent immediatly loses their status screen and hunter abilities.

The angel's ability to play for the other team seems sus. I know this setting runs on manga logic, but can't help but feel these "angels" will only help their assigned partner for as long as it's beneficial for the "angel" or until their partner forces them into a permanent subordinate role.

Also wonder what the reward is for killing your respective partner.

Ah one of the next wave of stories after isekai. I believe it is called light fantasy. Although this also has returner as well.
