That's interesting. I originally thought much of the background story is made up by the mangaka, but turns out this tradition is real. Onimukae is celebrated at Tenkawa Shrine (Tenkawa Daibenzaiten-sha) in Nara, and it's exactly like the manga describes.

i LOVE when it becomes obvious that the protagonist spent almost his entire life in america so his view of "demons" are obviously different from japanese people who grew up with stories like red oni and blue oni

i love the mangaka's panel style, she makes everything very flexible and also very fun to read. Hmmm i loved this chapter focused on the ceremony and even the tea recipe, it's all very tasty. heheh thanks for the translation! 🤍
