Hum... I don't think Tolui's speech about "sin" came out as clear as it should because of one omission.
Is not only that Ögedei was "cursed", he was specifically cursed but a curse "from China", for having attacked China. So Tolui having the greater army and killed more had committed more crimes than Ögedei so he deserved the curse more than him.

Anyway, this is something I'm waiting since the beginning, I want to see how this will play out in this mangá.
Maybe it was Boraqchin who poisoned Ögedei, maybe it was Töregene. Either case it's very easy to suspect that Boraqchin exploited the situation to kill Tolui. Both in the mangá and in the Secret History the whole situation played out too conveniently for everyone else.
This event will have far reaching consequences, eventually Sorghaghtani's sons will come do dominate the Mongols.

So that bowl the guy has to drink is actually gonna be spiked with a fatal poison, right?

Boraqchin is playing them both. She didn't fall for Fatima's bait and set something up. I can't tell what exactly though.

Tolui is "a hero" for the Mongols.
Don't know about drinking from the bowl, but in the Secret History when the shamans "revealed" what the curse demanded for being lift from Ogëdei "coincidently" just at the right moment
Tolui walked in... he hears about the situation, says "makes perfect sense for me" and accepts dying for Ogëdei as a great honor.

It's funny if you think that all the people seeking power killed the only one of Ghengis's sons that didn't want any more power than he already had.
Tolui holding so much power would keep everyone in check, no one would have enough power to challenge anyone else for decades.

And now think about the another irony.
If Sorghaghtani hadn't sent Fatima as a spy maybe Boraqchin would had died and Ogëdei wouldn't poisoned by the realgar. Sorghaghtani desire to "prevent" the family from fighting and killing itself was what started it all.

Noooo I caught up :notlikethis:

I don’t like historical series but this is such a gem, battle of wits with the addition that this is based on true events. Author might be reading inaccurate sources but they did a great job with dramatizing the timeline.

Thanks again for the scanlation, the plot thickened so much I can't see through it.
