Oh, Kolgen, you sweet naive little pumpkin, don't. That's just inconsiderate at best and cruel at worst. Why impose such unrealistic expectations on others? Becoming a ruler requires much more than just a noble goal and an unwavering belief that you'll eventually achieve it. It's power over people's lives. Toregene sees Guyuk as an extension of herself.
She wants Guyuk to remain vulnerable and childish for the rest of his life because she projects her younger self onto him. He’s a grown man, yet she still treats him like a little kid.

I don't know the exact situation but I can guess Kolgen is a lifelong retainer to Guyuk, so it makes sense he might address his lord's mother with overfamiliarity. Showing that kind of relationship nuance is exactly why I think honorifics are narratively useful.

Found out that some people think Shira deserved this.

From the very beginning, Sitara wouldn't have accomplished everything or even be alive if it weren't for him.

In the anime, Shira hesitated in translating Sitara's foolish outburst to Tolui and even tried to do his best to tactfully tone it down to not make him wrathful.

When Sitara lost her mistress and her friends and tried to kill herself by goading a Mongol soldier, Shira stopped her and told her he knows where the book of her mistress is so that she has the will to live. Not to mention being the one who introduced Sorhagtani to her in the first place. Her outburst to a grieving Sorghagtani that she will continue on is laughable when she herself gave in to her sorrow.

And Shira became a vital asset to Sitara's plans due to his connections to Sorghagtani.

And now Shira tries to saved her from the Great Khatun when he was forced to spy on her and decided to risk his life and his job by telling her this and asking her to go to Persia with him.

She repaid all this by poisoning him.

It's also worth mentioning why. Apparently it's for uhh... (checks notes) being responsible for the death of Sitara's family (as a kid just trying not to get killed)? Being opportunistic and willing to work under the mongols, thus supporting the current system (by trying to survive in the only way he knows how)? Accidentally touching on Sitara's never-healing wounds (how would he know about that)? Being a guy in a josei manga (really??)?
When people make assumptions about others' motivations and behaviors, they tend to see things from their own perspective. That's just how we are. The poor guy miscalculated the sheer scale of Sitara's capacity to hold such a wicked grudge over the years. Which is completely fair, Shira thought that Sitara wanted to climb the ladder to have a decent life or something like that, simply because that's what he wants and what he assumes other people in a position like his would want. Isn't it the exact same for Sitara, though? She hoped that Shira secretly shared the same wrath she held. This, again, was an assumption she made because she is in the exact same position. Both are victims of a devastating war, and both are trying to figure out their own paths in complete darkness.
These are two sides of the same coin.
