If you look more carefully you will see that she wearing a long skirt which is not suit for running and travel a long distance which she intended to do to (she state that she will try to find ingredients for some sort of medicine that will help lower to fever but she end up find an the walking stick thingy that cause her to remember the condition that she was told when she were young)

Additionally, since it was raining outside, the long skirt will be covered in mud and soaked in no time, making walking even more difficult.

I'm gonna go out on a limb (ha) and guess that the devil's walking stick is secretly of the same species as the world tree, with how this kind of "gathering of overpowered people" story goes. Just a situation where normally, nobody would have the magical power to properly grow it to its potential, or something, so nobody's aware of it.

With a name like the "devil's walking stick", it could even be that it's dangerous to people after it grows more (taking magical energy more quickly when they touch it, or some gimmick like that), so people avoid / cut them down as they grow more, but MC will just be able to let it grow normally with Ars there.
