This manga has managed to pull a wool over my eyes yet again. In the last chapter I predicted that Ars would show up and somehow resolve the situation easily but instead the authors pull a fast one and Ars simply shows up to pull a shocked face and take credit. I.... I should have known...

That was certainly the strangest detail. If the enemy generals hadn't been shown escaping on horseback, I'd have said the castle had a secret escape route, utilising a tunnel, but apparently they simply rode away through a siege, so the author is merely mega lazy with details.

My thoughts exactly. Someone who turns sides so easily merely cos someone showed an interest in him doesn't bode well for when they find someone stronger than Ritsu who promises Braham some tutelage.

That's indeed a possibility, but chances are the war will be already over before that happens. In the meantime, the boy should have plenty to learn from Ritsu and will thus be kept busy.

As we know now Ambition is just how hard they chase their goals, in this case Braham's goal is to be the strongest and his ambition is so much he is willing to betray his own side at the drop of a hat to become stronger so an 88 ambition absolutely makes sense for him.
