And the Light Novel adaptation ended at Volume 8.

The manga handles it so well. There is the sadness and happiness imbedded on each page. The feelings you get reading this is sublime.

They started out as different takes on a similar theme, but Frieren has developed into a more typical adventure story while this one continues to focus on the passage of time and the importance of making memories that will live on.

One reason is that these chapters actually possess the length and structure manga typically had in the past. Nowadays eight pages are supposed to make a chapter all too often.

The reason why I love this manga is how melancholic it feels. Life goes on even if you're functionally immortal. People you know live and die, but you stay the same. All you can do is hold onto their memories. And I love seeing how the MC's existance influences the lives, deaths, and families of their loved ones.

It's why I like Frieren a lot.

I really like the two perspectives we have with this manga and Frieren.
Frieren is an elf life through the lens of someone who's seen it all before. She's just going through the motions but slowly learning that maybe connections are important, no matter how short they are.

This manga is through the lens of someone more inexperienced about living such a long life and the impact it really has. I especially love how the author treats time so nonchalantly that we the readers get constant whiplash on how much time has passed. I constantly catch myself going "HOLY SHIT ITS BEEN 80 YEARS?!"

Both stories are just so good and I hope nothing but good stuff from this manga
