As expected of the joke of a household: Al is forced to participate in swordsmanship lessons, but apparently Eleanora isn't forced to attend magic lesson. Al needing to learn swordsmanship would be okay as such, it's a valuable skill in a fantasy world and for a member of nobility, but the problem is his teacher is a piece of shit father who's only interested in beating up his own son. Eleanora is naturally gifted and can learn just by watching the "dragon slayer (lol)" old man. We briefly saw the visiting count give Al some actual advice, which seemed to benefit Al immediately, which further underlines the "dragon slayer (lol)" couldn't teach anyone even if he wanted to. Not that we would know if he even wants to.
By the looks of it the mother is a whimsical and lazy loser who once tried to give Al magic lessons but upon noticing he's already better than her, she just gave up and forgot all about it. Since Eleanora has no interest in anything but sworsmanship, the mother doesn't even bother to demand Eleanora to learn magic. Too much work, probably. "Dragon slayer (lol)" probably has zero talent and interest in magic, so he's happy to keep training sword skills with Eleanora, who is as obsessed with the sword as he is.
Truly spectacular. No wonder all the other nobles laugh when they call the baron a dragon slayer and the man himself is thus embarrassed to hear it.
