There's a cancelled serialization of this title but much shorter.I forget when she'll learn of her sleep eating but I hope it's soon!
I'll do you one better that fits the not knowing soap but knowing bacteria, paddle steam boatsnext you're gonna tell me that they use 18-wheelers to move cargo around but haven't invented the wheel yet
True, I was so tired yesterday when I posted this that I didn't notice😓Thanks for the chapter! Page 120, it should say unconsciously, not subconsciously.
In the novel she is sleepwalking to the pantry.
honestly, I don't know, in common usage, the phrase "これには殺菌効果もあってですね" is used to refer to the elimination of bacteria, probably in this case I should have used a less specific term like " Sterilization" or "cleansing" .I know it was mentioned briefly in the previous thread about them not knowing what soap is being ridiculous, but I think there's an even worse offender in this chapter.
they don't know what soap is, yet they somehow know what bacteria are. soap is an ancient invention, but bacteria are a recent discovery. bacteria wasn't discovered until 1670, and people still believed in humorism until germ theory came around in 1850.
how in the world can you understand the concepts of germ theory yet not know what soap is?
next you're gonna tell me that they use 18-wheelers to move cargo around but haven't invented the wheel yet
ah, wasn't criticizing the TL, if anything I was criticizing the original work here lolhonestly, I don't know, in common usage, the phrase "これには殺菌効果もあってですね" is used to refer to the elimination of bacteria, probably in this case I should have used a less specific term like " Sterilization" or "cleansing" .
If you know more about it, please let me know.🙏🙏🙏

looking up the term "殺菌効果", it seems to mean "bactericidal effect", "antiseptic effect", "sterilization effect", etc. that said, I'm not sure exactly when people started caring about sterilization - as far as I can see, doctors didn't sterilize their tools until, again, the advent of germ theory in the mid 1800s, and while people certainly had an idea of "being clean", parasite- and poop-filled river water was considered "clean" until roughly the same time period, hence why we had so many plagues until germ theory, even in places that had soap (turns out soap can't fix your drinking water lol).
as far as I can tell, the term seems to be a germ theory term. that's less a "you didn't do your tl homework" issue and more an "author didn't do their history homework" issue lol. sure it makes sense for us, the readers, but the characters who aren't MC, by all rights, should not be able to understand sterilization or microbes, and certainly not be able to comment on the existence of such properties in a substance they had never seen before
but yea thanks for the TL, I'll still be reading since I've been interested in the story since it was originally cancelled, this isn't the first manga I've read that got most of the things they talked about wrong or overemphasized some trivial invention (at least this time they aren't bragging about rice), I'll get over it... maybe lol
