The white lotus is pretty smart but why would she not understand why the CP is clinging to Elena? Because Elena's family has power and is basically the Kingmaker here.
OGFL is actually a pretty good villain, I hope they don't dumb her down.
I guess the brief encounter with the CP has really tainted Elena's view on men. At least look towards her father as an example of a man in love with a woman.
