Ah, he is those types of tsunderes with resting bitch faces.....

of course hes a doting parent, doesnt make me like him any more. if love your son so much, why tearing him down instead of trying to understand his side

Just because he gives gifts and thinks about how his kid is a "sweet boy" doesn't really mean he is a doting parent. I've dealt with a mother who often buys me things as a "sign of affection" yet her words are absolute abusive to the point I need therapy all of my life.

His thoughts of thinking his son is a "sweet boy" is natural for parents to have until they hit their teenage years too

I think sometimes authors don't realize that if you want to make an antagonist sympathetic you should probably set that up a bit before putting them into conflict with the protagonist(s). If you try to do it after the fact it very easily comes off as cheap and/or insincere.

Some parents have a hard time realising that their children are sentient, autonomous beings who will grow into adults.

Being doting and thinking your child is "sweet" is not a sign of being a good parent. Some parents "dote" on their child in the same way you would dote on a pet animal - with the expectation that your "doting" will be appreciated regardless of how it is manifested and without regard to the other person.

It is a better practice to explain and talk to your child. Interact with them.

doesn't understand himself, so he can't see why his son doesn't understand him or vice versa -_-
