Its a bit annoying that he wasn't able to anticipate leyrin's presence. Surely you would think that someone like him would have prepared for that eventuality. Even someone without his knowledge and wisdom would be extremely conscious of such a powerful, looming threat. It makes it seem like he's not taking it seriously and lessens the suspense that the demigods create.
