That empire isn't going to last long anyway. Apparently all it does is use the stick, without knowing how to use the carrot. The young bastard daughter of the defeated king could be used for propaganda purposes to make the empire's rule over the conquered land more legitimate. Instead, the emperor and his people can only think of killing her, either immediately or when she turns 18. Considering how she was treated by her family, it's doubtful any lingering nobles could use her for anything much in a rebellion. What would they say? "The empire is so evil they didn't execute this little kid! They must be brought down!"

You know I'm pretty sure the people writing that law banning the death penalty for children wouldn't have meant "you just need to delay the execution until they're of age", my dudes. >.>;
Of course, the only law enforcement against the emperor here seems to be "the duke thinks it'd be bad to break the law", so I'm not clear what they even have laws for.
(...In other news, it's fascinating to me that the aide understands a bit about human nature unlike the duke, but his conclusion from that understanding is "we should kill her immediately before we grow a conscience". What does it say when you're thinking "Oh my god, we'll be in so much trouble if we start having any morals"...?)
