“Oh cool, maybe with a title like that she’ll be morally ambiguous and this won’t be like every other villainess-“

FMC: Is cartoonish levels of goody-two-shoes.

Only thing that’s made me drop a manga faster is NTR.

its one of those mangas were the female lead wants "a normal life" and doesn't want the cringe ass male lead to bother her but the moment anything in the story happens she does exactly the opposite of what she says she wants to do.

You could call it the "it can't be helped" type of trope, where everything absolutely could be helped but it happens anyway. either the author isn't very good at writing stories or they think people like this, for some reason. 2/10

I want to be clear. I usually have no issue with the "I want to live a slow life" -> "Actually I will get invovled with everything" shtick.

That much just forms the basis of a humdrum unwilling or reluctant hero. Someone who'd like to not be involved, but, when faced with trouble, is drawn in. That's fine; there's some tension in that. Broadly speaking, as a device, it works.

This isn't that, though.

The protagonist says she wants to live a normal life, then immediately goes out of her way to reject a normal life, not for the sake of justice or helping anyone she cares about or anything that makes sense, but in order to spontaneously and without anyone asking, chase her way into danger to render assistance to a known villain and murderer who both clearly doesn't need help and was threatening her with physical and to some extent implied sexual violence less than 24 hours prior.

...Because he's hot, I guess? Literally no other reason I can fathom.

I can't. I just can't. I'm fine with my protagonists having inconsistencies in their motives and actions, but they need to make some kind of sense!

Actually, that must be her bad habit. She said that she wanted a peaceful life and wanted to live in public life, but she would never abandon her family and the people who cared about her. Even if she didn't meet Leonardo, she would never step out of the underground world.

As for her wanting to help people who don't need to be helped, it's very simple. She just doesn't want anyone to get hurt, and when she does that, she puts herself in danger.

The protagonist is a contradictory person. She speaks her desires straightforwardly, but her actions act according to what she values more.
Also, she treats everyone as humans, not game characters, but I think she trusts the game protagonist's luck too much. A scene from Vol 2 of the novel, I don't know what most people will think if the manga progresses to that scene, but I'll be honest, I was quite shocked. She's not gentle with herself at all.

ex. in the latest chapter, you can see that she was shocked and caught off guard by the gun pointed at her. That was because she didn't expect the protagonist to get shot.

Her strange motivations for Leonardo, aside from the fact that he was her first friend, will be revealed in Vol 3.
