Wtf is that nonsense! Even if that "money" (looks like gold bars and coins, and jewels) is stolen, wouldn't it still be payment for the golden dragon, like the treasures the MC got from the bad guys' shop that sells stolen goods? Why destroy it? And why is it "marked stolen" out of nowhere, when none of the loot up til now was?
