I am lost well, just going with story's flow. It surprisingly has me hooked with its bullshit.
I think the ability he got was fucked because of his low level, so he only got to use it once and for something deemed "within his power" which might've been creating a new moon lol. And the other guy might be a servant of another God on Earth and maybe he found a way to reliably increase rank by sacrificing people in some way.
This is how I interpret this shit anyway.
