Good! Retaliate! Show them you're not an easy prey. The bullying would only escalate otherwise.

I get that his mother is exile, but doesn't the title of [prefix] dragon/phoenix in Murim works mean they are the best in their field of the younger age bracket? Why is the exile family of two even interacting with the main branch?

I might've had too high of an expectation going in considering it has decent ratings, but like the guy above me pointed out, shouldn't his mother be decently powerful considering her title, especially as the "poison" prefix would denote that she is at least proficient in the ways of her clan? Even if it was only for her looks, it seems a bit cheap to just have this "super powerful evil guy" take a fancy to her and cause everything and die in the first half of the chapter to set up his oh-so-sad backstory. I'm dropping this, but uh, let me know if it gets less predictably generic, cheesy, and unfortunately laking in satisfying logical progression in the later chapters. If you want, i guess.

Who in their right mind would fight a huge clan to the death for the hand of the MC's mother? She is looking mid at best 😕

I've suffered through 19 chapters of this, and it doesn't seem like you're missing out on anything. The story is overly theatrical, and while that's not necessarily bad for a comic, it immediately falls apart the moment you start analyzing it and thinking about the motives and consequences of people's actions. Basically, it's just a generic wish-fulfillment story with an MC who lacks personality. The target audience is probably children and young teenagers.
