Wait.
The villain wants to kill people because... he's angry that they killed his important people.
Let's recapitulate...
- MC killed one, along with his men, because they went to kill him against orders to the contrary. Even Dragon boy here previously agreed that this was justified.
- MC killed the second one because he was blackmailed into a duel to the death. By another of his "important people". Using yet another one, the most important one, as a hostage.
- The third, miss Most Important, was then killed by the previously mentioned hostage taker. The enemy leader doesn't even have the excuse of being deceived by his woman general. He knows she killed the young girl. But he still decides to kill MC and his family because... he couldn't protect his own people... from his own people... so it must be the MC's fault somehow.
I don't mind evil characters "just because evil". It's a little lazy but it's acceptable as a classic trope. We don't need a tragic background for every single villain.
But I do mind stupid, inconsistent, lazy writing. I understand making up a reason for these two to fight. I can't stand the reason being so incredibly dumb.
Even the shallow "evil by nature" trope would have worked better.
Also, he wanted to ask MC's family to cure the girl. But he never bothered to. Until she's killed at the hand of someone from his own faction. Which makes him angry at the person he wanted to ask for help but was too slow - too dumb really - to actually... you know... go and ask.
So, fights will occur in this series because the author wants to, not because he crafted a believable reason for it.
I'm not sure about dropping this just yet, but I've got a strong feeling to do so.
