Man, instead of spamming my notifs every hour with these little “hey you’re an idiot, hey you’re dumb” icons, how about you guys just mass report me so MangaDex deletes me so I can get the hell out of here since no one respects a word I have to say anyway.

Can’t make an honest to god attempt to explain myself, apparently EVERYTHING I have said is just “dumb.” Thanks.

O

Oh my goodness gracious, I said if you put them in the real world it’s unlikely they would date I was not talking about them in the manga at all, in a literal sense. So now all of a sudden we’re lying to ourselves and thinking model women out here are looking to date people that are low key and hardworking good guys like Ichikawa? It can theoretically happen yes, it’s just way more likely to not happen.

I said that but you’re all completely ignoring the context of the sentence and it’s getting to a point where you all are just ganging up on me and not even making any effort to understand my original point.
Your original point was realism right? I have seen like two comments on this chapter talking about realism before your post.

But I agree this story has never been realistic. I have seen very few adults with the level of emotional intelligence most of the characters have in this much less teenagers.

I think people get confused between what is believable for a story and what is realistic. Realistically they would have broken up by now cause they are jealous insecure teenagers that are in their first relationship and have no idea how to talk to one another about what they feel or why they feel it.

The reasons you list for why it isnt realistic is pure conjecture that you list as fact in your original post. You can have that opinion but to say things like "She would cheat on him by now" or "she would never do this in real life" will more than likely will have people correcting these points.

I can agree with the fact that the band arc is one of the weakest by far for this series but calling the drama that has been established by character flaws and foreshadowing melodramatic is very weird to me.

Using words like "mid" and "drop in quality" without having any examples is just your opinion. It would also help if in your original post you didnt blantantly insult people. Calling people "realism spammers" and talking down to people then complaining about people calling out your bad faith take is just immature.

I am really trying not to dog pile on you but jumping in the fire then complaining you got burnt is your fault. Dont insult people who like the arc or the story. Structure an argument better than a rant post. Dont get mad and go on a unhinged reply spree because people are correcting you. Don't then go and try and erase your reactionary responses.

Please try to approach things not as a lecture but a discussion. I hope you have a good rest of your day and I am sorry for the wordy response 🙏

I recommend rereading chapter 127 and the extra with lyrics instead. In ch.166 when Yamada walks off, the lyrics speech bubbles show the first verse. It's the part of the song, which uses the watashi pronoun instead of boku (the pronoun used by Kyoutarou). I.e. it's Yamada's confession and her own description of her flaws.

P.S. The chapter's title is half a line from the song and also uses watashi.
Ok so, I went and re-read both chapters you recommended, and to be honest, I'm still confuse.

At first I thought that it meant Yamada want Kyou to find her? But then reading more carefully make me realised that the part of the song that say "all that I want is for you to find me" sit inside Kyou verse, not Yamada.

MD commenters the moment a chapter doesn’t include a fluffy romantic moment between Kyotaro and Anna and in fact shows that their relationship will not always be perfect

Yeah this is definitely a trial they need to go through if they want their relationship to work. They can't do the "We're secretly dating 🤭🤭🤭" thing forever. They've already taken a lot of steps for the sake of balancing their different paths, but they've never really had to face one another about it like this.

Honestly it's no one's "fault" but I do feel Kyo has been exceptionally patient with Ana's lifestyle way more than she has with his.

Kyo not only accepts that yamada will have things she needs to keep secret and place above him but he loves her for it, she on the other hand has shown to be jealous and overall not as supportive of his goals even if that goal isn't revealed to her straight away.

we are either getting a breakup, or more likely anna will push herself to sex, kyo will realize this, and we get a more heart to heart between them. norio knows what shes doing, we just have to be patient.

So, a non-finale with a timeskip and all the other characters pushed aside? Weird taste
You know I meant it only for the main couple, as in they're married when she's still in the showbiz. Don't be too literal with things 🤨

It's true that the life of a celebrity is complicated. But Yamada's biggest mistake was choosing to hide her relationship and go around doing Niko-chan's bidding, when what she should have done was thank her for the invitation, apologize and say that she already had other plans. I don't understand why Yamada avoids upsetting Niko-chan so much. The problem is that she only realizes it after she's done it. That's where this annoying drama comes in. I think it's unfair to Kyo, because he supports her in everything, including what she has to hide for the sake of her career and he's never complained about it. The least she can do is give Kyo the attention he deserves when she has the chance. But in the end, image and career always take priority and Kyo always ends up in the background.

Wait, is Moe developing feelings for his middle school friend with the glasses? Why did she suddenly say she would go to the same school he said he will go to, followed by an awkward moment?

I personally think that breaking up the relationship because of her work issues will show a lot of childishness on Yamada's part. Kyo is fully aware of the difficulties and yet he makes an effort and accepts everything for the good of both of them. He knows it's a high price to pay, but he never gives up. So if the two break up, it will be a very annoying drama.

I wonder if the sister's band arc was the author foreshadowing Anna realizing that the showbiz world is not worth the cost of your close ones?

The love of those fans is temporary, and easily shattered when they smell even a whiff of "impurity."

Sacrificing your love life for those types of people is not worth it.

Personally, I really hope it goes this route. Sure it's nice for Yamada now but it's not a good industry for someone who wants personal relationships.

Is this something I'm too gaijin to understand?

Japan isn't some archipelago cut off from the world anymore, like they must know that everywhere outside of there, South Korea and China (?), celebrities, female celebrities don't have to pretend to be little wee untouched maiden virgins to sell.

The issue keeps being addressed and criticized in their own media, so how long are they going to pretend?

Is the problem that no idol or actress wants to take the heat by being the trailblazer and dating openly?

And I get that parasocial incels are a big part of their revenue but why pander that much to them when they realistically can't be all their fans? There must some Japanese fans sane enough to know that their faves personal lives is none of their business, or even some smart enough to see this as bonus content and something to live through vicariously if their idol is sharing couple pics!

It's so stupid! Anna is saboting her life and couple just so that randos don't seethe online. Who cares?! It's even crazier since we're talking about teenage romance so why the self-imposed drama?

This developpment is too infuriating for me. The nonsense about her pretending to reject Ichi was already moronic enough. Are they seriously supposed to never be seen together until they're old enough to announce their marriage or what? Super plan
The issue is deeper than you understand. It's not because of a handful of incels online, it's a bigger cultural thing.
