Actually... it's more the opposite. Baki is ugly, saying that it's drawn "well" is something that would baffle most people. However acknowledging that is a bit mean, so Norio apologized. Seriously while Baki has a lot of detail it is a very bizarre, at times hideous manga. Yamada is complimenting it, not dismissing it, but it's a weird evaluation to make, so everyone reacts.

Actually, I kinda agree with Yamada, it's just a manuscript, yeah? They usually look like shit simple sketches, and I can guess that this particular one was quite detailed compared to the usual, but for an outsider it just looks like some simple drawings.

Personally, if I would see a manuscript that is overly-detailed, I would call the author out for not being efficient. It's going to be redrawn at least once. Actually, that's why manuscripts are made this way. It's always about deadlines and bringing very detailed manuscript would be akin to saying that you care about yourself more than you care about the publisher. Rude!~
