Everything so far points to Sharon somehow getting the Duke cursed so that Alice would get a chance at him. Had he not been cursed he would have inherited the family fortune and been matched up with another wealthy family to marry. Basically as the heir of the family fortune it is impossible for him to marry down to a common maid like Alice. But cursed and disinherited by the main family nobody would care much about whom he would marry so they would not necessarily object to him marrying Alice. As the situation is now Alice is the only one that cares for him now that he has been exiled from the main estate, so if Sharon's plan was to hook up Alice and the Duke the plan is working perfectly. The BIG question that will change everything is how much does Alice know about all this. I personally don't think Alice fully knows all the details, but Sharon must have told her something so she would not loose hope of getting the Duke. Also she is consistently getting very close to the Duke to tease him, but I don't think she would do that if she knew that a single touch would kill her, as that would be the end of her and it would traumatize the Duke and she loves him too much for that. Maybe she is immune to the curse and knows it, but can't really show it as it would basically give away the fact that she has some information about the curse, so she is basically hoping to trip onto the Duke "accidentally" so they can discover this fact together without giving away the fact she has some information about the curse.

My take is that Alice's mother and the witch master are the same person, and she is the one that cursed the duke (still not sure why, though). Also, it is said in ch 5 that the duke's grandfather used to "dance" with servants in the middle of the night, and that Alice's mother was one of them.

"You're the only one that I'll protect no matter what." Sharon is definitely involved somehow. I mean, she was loved by everyone so something drastic must have happened to cause all the bad blood that came about after she passed away. I mean, her love for her daughter was to the point where she would do anything to protect her smile. Something big must have happened that forced her hand (into reaching out to witchcraft). Taking into account the witch master's reaction to the Duke's questioning, it must have involved both the Duke's and Alice's family. The plot is really coming full circle with all these new revelations.

Welp almost impossible for the witch to not be sharon at this point. The amount of hints and clues is kind of in your face. Also same lipstick and dimple that the artist shoves in your face everytime the witch comes up.
