I like how the soldiers are aggressive and come off as jerks but aren’t really. He’s arrogant but isn’t going to try and hurt her or teach her a lesson just because somebody else volunteered her for the fight.

Come to think of it the author does a good job of not making characters MC will eventually win over too shitty at first.
