This was the sh*t Yamaoka wanted to be in... Also the moping goon reflecting on his life choices at last, made me think. It's not like the other cahracters made a choice of being the way they are, did they? Trained from early childhood to be super assasins, I actually don't get their individuality and their adherence to a code at the same time. They feel brethen but they are utterly alone in what they do, the work of a psychopath and the loyalty of a soldier, it doesn't add up. Does it?

Not quite at the end yet but I think that's why Akira is shown to be a bit stunted in his understanding of the world. Being trained from a super young age is what molds these people to have their code and understanding of each other.

I get what you say, Akira is the way he is because of his upbringing. Yet the rest of Fable isn't like that, but I guess I'm focusing too much on the character's psychology.
