I wonder if he really f'ed up that badly on the skill selection, or if the gem thing will become useful later.

Also, if your memories were deleted, wouldn't you just do the same things all over again?

Maybe he can use it as an ingredient to get rid of it.

Oh great, another "respawn" mechanic in an isekai. Granted, if I got isekaid and I get offered on of them godly skills, a skill to not die again is very attractive, but it's becoming a bit of a overused trope by now.

@bakunawah In Ch 6 of the pre-pub version, it specifies that upon breaking the crystal and being restored, he would lose his memories of his "most precious thing" at the time of the shattering. Did the translation of panel 4 in this chapter miss that detail? Without it, the comment about losing the memories of the recipe book in panel 5 doesn't really make sense.

Unless there has been some serious mistranslation, then this gem skill...is completely and utterly useless...
For starters, the save gem won't break itself, so if you die you won't instantly come back to life(putting it in a mithril box that nobody else can perceive all but guarantees you'll remain dead.) so you need someone to trigger it for you in the case of your death.
Second (again if the translations is not messed up), it's a fucking useless skill...if you break the crystal you return to the exact time and place you created it with no memory of what happens after its creation, all but guaranteeing that you will be forever stuck in a time loop where you will be unwittingly making the exact choices over and over again leading to the exact same unaltered future where you or someone else will break the crystal...
The only way this skill is a "cheat" is by cheating the owner from a skill slot that could be used for an actual useful skill.

I believe in the raws, he says when he makes a second gem, the first one disappears.
And when he breaks the gem, he will return to the time of making it. He says in the panel that with his finger pointing at the table that "in order words, if I break this I will return to here and now" (since he did just make the gem)

and the drawback is that you will lose your "most precious thing" (一番大切なもの) and he says he is afraid that he will forget about the recipe book skill.
