Honestly, it is not that bad.
I would still give it a 6/10 for it being a good start to the story.
But the score could easily go up or down 1-2 points depending on how the story continues.
The story is basically that MC is Isekaid to a world similar ( not the same, only similar ) as his game character.
His game character has multiple custom-made negative perks available to get more good perks.
MC is a super strong mage thanks to this, but is also dying and needs performance-enhancing drugs to just function properly.
IMO there is no plot armor at all because MC is so strong he breezes through every fight except one.
And being OP is not plot armour...
There is one exception, but its only barely one...
The one exception is that while he does not win a fight, he manages to stall the fight until help arrives.
Granted he did not know help was coming at all and kind of expected to die.
But he was fighting somebody who was on the most wanted list and help arrived because they caused such a huge commotion.
A government assassin/bounty hunter shows up to take out the opponent because MC blew up an entire fucking building.
( The assassin is also somebody MC met earlier and might come back later if the story goes on )
So then the opponent runs away because it is not worth the effort to fight the government.
And with fact MC is regularly confused as a weakling because of his sickly appearance.
( and the fact the opponent is a bigtime criminal as well )
The opponent gets blamed for the explosion afterwards despite MC being the one who caused it.
The story revolves around the MC´s quest to make a bunch of money as a mercenary.
That he needs to buy drugs and find a cure for all his negative perks.
And it is all about the misadventures that happen because of this.
Also while MC has a lot of knowledge about magic from how the game works which helps him grow strong quickly.
There are some differences in how the new world works.
He is shown to be more adept at magic than most other mages in the new world because of his knowledge of the game.
But being a sickly nobody without a real identity in what appears to be a somewhat modern setting with magic is a problem.
He still has to learn new things to get stronger every now and then and does not "level up" or anything like most game MC´s.
But being a "genius" who learns magic quickly thanks to previous knowledge does break the common sense a bit.
And while he is far stronger than most, he is not the strongest in the setting.
He does lose fights and has moments where others have magic abilities/items that he knows nothing about.
After losing a fight and then winning a fight where he was outnumbered.
He then goes to the library to study different forms of summoning magic as a way to defend himself.
And a few chapters later he has then developed a new spell that summons lightning wolves that track down targets.
There is also a very early example where MC gets attacked by a sniper who manages to run away because MC is unable to detect him with his magic unlike everybody else.
We learned in one of the latest chapters this is because of a druid class's ability to make items that clock you from detection.
They are sold on the black market and are very expensive, but they are regularly used by assassins.
The story overall is pretty good IMO but it is not really a top-tier story so far.
There are not a lot of recurring characters as of now so you could count them on one hand...
But the ones we have seen multiple times so far are all decent characters in themselves other than one who is only a merchant.
And there are also a few others that are set up in a way where they might be important later on.
