If he frames the butcher who has a legitmate motive, then it would go away. Kind of brilliant. Though he did get sloppy by trying to clean up after the fact.

I’m sure he would’ve gotten away with it in a “normal”’situation without mc tho I wonder how many irl cops/detectives would be able to accept “outsider” advice without getting in any legal trouble lol
