Which, by the way, the only indication of time passing is "the season changed" do you know how many days there are between the season changing and 12/25? It's 4. It was already fall, everyone has been in long sleeve winter uniforms for a few chapters now. So where the hell are you getting a timeskip from.

And where does it say anyone is being forced to go the prom?

Indicated by their long sleeve uniforms, if they only wore them for a couple of chapters then those couple of chapters covered all of fall and now we are in winter. I love to hear you talk about media literacy when you can't grasp the basics of time passing. And I would love to hear how you think Narita organized a prom dance in less than a week if only a few days passed in the time skip.

As for what happened afterwards...frankly everything we seem to know about Koga would say that if she had to choose between music and anything else, she'd choose music, so if she does sack up and ask her it feels like would be setting herself up for disappointment. Unless this is supposed to be a catalyst for what passes as character growth, but the setup seems poor for that.

This has nothing to do with media literacy or whatever. The author is using the most generic tropes possible. It's just very predictable and boring. The writing isn't good either because the four page format messes up the pacing. It feels all over the place. But no, readers are annoyed because they don't understand this "deep and clever" writing, right? It's just a slog.

I have made the grim speculation that there may be 8 or so more chapters before this arc maybe resolves. That is, if the author is planning to time the release of the prom chapters on the weekend before irl Christmas. Or the prom chapters might start releasing at the start of December, in which case there will be 4~ish chapters of moping before the ball properly starts rolling.

I don't actually know much about rock, so I'll be ignorantly imagining a Taylor Swift You Belong With Me music video-esque scene for how the resolution plays out.

I get that the entire premise is based around misunderstanding (hence the title) but everything we see progress with the relationship we then are met with months of setbacks and drama. It was fine the first 5 times it happened, now it's just tiresome. Readers need a carrot to go along with the stick and the author isn't giving us much in the way of reward.
