they have magic so if they can afford to be caught off guard, at the very least they should have precautionary defense mechanisms already prepared just in case of ambush regardless if they are in their school uniform or weaponless. they're literally more than a war hero, they're a hero who saved a world, in a world of magic nonetheless.
