Everyone else in this thread is talking about how cute this is (or about Gurren Lagann).

But my immediate reaction was "huh?!?!?" and "the author clearly doesn't wear glasses"

Letting someone borrow my glasses for a few minutes is one thing, as I can just sit around in a chair while I wait, maybe close my eyes to not get a headache. But needing to borrow them for an "audition coming up" is an insanely long timeframe. Not being able to see well for some indefinite period of time is dumb. We know he still goes to school and we can see he is in a library during this chapter. Can he read without glasses? Can he see something written on a whiteboard / blackboard without glasses? Can he get home without his glasses? I'm fairly sure I could drive to a location without my glasses if I'm familiar with the route if I absolutely had to since I can see cars just fine, but my driver's license says I need my glasses (and I agree because I wouldn't be able to read the text on road signs).

Looking back on past chapters, I believe he must be farsighted, as we see several scenes where he doesn't wear glasses at all. It's only been these past chapters where he's been reading that he has to wear glasses. So letting her have his glasses would mean that the library suddenly becomes useless to him, and doing school work probably becomes a pain as well.

Another problem is letting someone borrow your glasses when he/she doesn't normally wear glasses is that they aren't familiar with being careful around glasses, as that means you have higher likelihood of not getting your glasses back intact. For example, glasses wearers instinctively learn to not turn your head too fast or else the glasses might fly off (no headbanging!). The fact that the girl is going for an audition would scare me, as she is more likely to be doing some type of exaggerated motions that would cause the glasses to fall off. And head motions aside, the glasses might fall off anyway since they weren't sized for the other person. In this case, I'm surprised the glasses even fit the girl, as her head is wider than his.

Also, if he isn't nearsighted, this means that he probably didn't get to see the girl's cuteness as well as we all could, as she would have been a bit blurry.

Overall, he should be charging a lot more for the rental fee for how disruptive it can be to be without your glasses for day(s).

How about accurate fun? Fun that doesn't just throw everything out the window making the joke so nonsense that you question if nonsense is the joke or what the nonsense is trying to portray is the joke.
But Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is real tho, you just can't see it because it stays outside of the observable universe, also it's an 11-dimensional being and nigh-omnipotent.

And before you tried to refute my claim, google up "flying spaghetti monster" alongside the original analogy, "russell's teapot".

Guess I should have looked closer, doesn't really change anything though, still says that the other things are bigger than the universe.
It can be true, though, if a little misleading. The CMB represents the observable universe, meaning the part we can see of the larger universe that we can't fully observe.
It can depend on how we define "universe" as well; if we suppose that the universe is defined as the extent of presence of natural matter within empty space, then theoretically it can be possible for something to exist larger that that, perhaps in a multiverse scenario where another universe might be larger than ours, or an artificial entity considered separately from the natural matter which exceeds its bounds.

Idunno man it's just a TTGL meme, it's been years since I've seen it but I'm pretty sure things in the movie version reached universe scale.

Ah yes definitions, just like how if we define a murder to be just tripping with a knife and someone just happened to be where the knife landed, it might not be considered murder in the totally not bribed jury's eyes.

There is no one truth, only a lot of bullshit.

Alright. Not sure why you've decided this is the battle you wanted to fight, but you do you. Pretty whatever to me either way. I just thought it might be interesting to shed some light on some of the terms/science involved here. You can take it for what it is, maybe find it interesting, or you can bitch about bribed juries and bullshit, but either way getting up in arms about a silly meme is certainly a choice.
