Prob a way of the artist to make "unique" characters. He honestly was really annoying to see.

Yeah, I'm sure in his mind it went "maybe if I don't properly teach them VITAL information and stuff, they'll give up and stop wanting to follow in my footsteps!"

Feels like the Dad after all the stuff known about him didn't want his son following his path in life. But instead of PREPARING HIM or TELLING HIM HIS REASONS! He instead acts like an emotionally abusive parent and talks down to him. Then just prevents him from getting vital stuff he and later his daughter might need because he's HOPING they get kicked out sooner and they can "stop this nonsense of wanting to be like him!" IT just comes off as foolish, stupid and destroys his relationship with his family in some "INSANE" attempt to save it! (IF he destroys it first, then they can't be destroy right?)

MY guess is his experience has destroyed his ability to communicate properly with others! PTSD ESPECIALLY. Or worse a COMPLETE Self-hatred towards himself that he would MUCH prefer "never being someone inspiring" to his son. So acts as vicious as he can be hoping his son will hate him and never want to be like him! Two Birds with one stone! His son won't be a Hunter, and he will hate his very being, so he will be "properly punished for all he's done!" Man seriously needs to see a therapist! He's a S Rank, super powerful and stuff. Yet I think he's too prideful for that to work! The classic "Set in their ways" stubborn fool who will listen to NO ONE even if someone was strong enough to "punch his face in" and force him to "Get help" he'd refuse (You can take a horse to water, but you can't make em drink) because he's SO FAR UP HIS ASS in having to never be wrong that he HAS to be right! Thing is he's actually HURTING his kids them helping them in a vain attempt to PROTECT them and punish himself (can't have your cake and eat t!)
