All of those drawings of Maria and Shadow's old life together and the life they could have had on the planet made me so sad. :') She really was such a sweetheart... I love all of the different types of smiles we got to see in this final chapter. And the different sides of Maria. Her kindness, her silliness... you want to laugh and smile with her but it's too painful knowing what happens next. Shadow was so strong to be able to smile back. [Cries]

I feel like this story was better than the actual game it ties into. It has more scenes developing Shadow and Maria's relationship, Shadow struggling with Black Doom's influence, and it ends with him being fully aware that Maria will die again if he beats Black Doom and actually making the choice to let her die for the sake of the planet and himself. And that pained smile at the end felt like both a more painful, yet more satisfying closure to this decades long tragedy.

This interpretation of Shadow's personality is one of the best. I've always preferred that kind and from Sonic X that having a edgy personality.
