I get how people should be upset that 7seas ended up as the licensor to publish in English. But specific companies are not relevant to why Danke is dropping or continuing the series. It's because it helps protect mangadex from liability. The "no uploading content with an official licensed TL" rule provides cover and helps keep Dex from being shut down.

Ah, Seven Seas, where good manga goes to die. Horrible value proposition, even for those who like buying Manga. Plus, apparently they translate / update really slowly.

Personally, unless someone offers a monthly sub that's $5 a month or less, I don't even bother. I just rotate between sites / apps that offer a plan like this. Manga Plus, Mangamo, Azuki.co, Viz's Shounen Jump, Vizmanga, etc.

But people that charge $10 for a single volume with not that many chapters? No. Also no to people that charge an exorbitant price per chapter. Kodansha being the main culprit with stuff like that. If the payment is a temporary unlock rather than a permanent purchase, that's even worse.

It's why I think that competition is necessary in the manga space, just like any space. Also necessary are archival sites like Mangadex, for if / when publishers go out of business / lose a license, and then Mangadex is the only place to read things when the physical AND digital stuff goes out of print.

The worst is comixology, I was "subscribed" to Nami yo Kiitekure and they charged me for each individual chapter, but also for the "completed" volume. Meaning they literally made me paid twice. First and last time I've ever paid for digital manga.

Hopefully someone else continues the fan translation. My experience with Seven Seas is that not only do we wait years for them to catch up, but their releases lack proofreading and often contain contextual errors. I don't see myself paying for a sub-par product.

When such rule has been decided? Many titles are continuing to be translated, and rule 1.3 goes that way :
"Any scanlated release is allowed to be uploaded regardless of the existence of official translations".
This title doesn't met the exception criteria to be restricted.

Well this sucks. Hopefully, someone else will pick this up. I know that Danke have left some pretty big shoes to fill, but better someone fills them poorly (for a given value of "poorly", of course) than not at all given who licensed it.

The glorious gits a 7seas butchered Koisuru (Otome) no Tsukurikata, turning a cute BL cross dressing story into a trans story. This absolutely upset the tone of the whole thing and really ticked off the original author. From what I've gathered, that wasnt the first or last shitshow of a localization job they've done.
