To the tl note of not thinking a hobgoblin is a fairy. While many depictions of hobgoblins now are of extra large and strong goblins, in their folklore origins they are a child born between a goblin and a fey. They were smaller, smarter and friendlier than normal goblins, often weaker as well in exchange for having magic. Also goblins themselves were a type of fairy. So while not in line with pop culture versions, this is pretty in line with the folk lore origins. It even has the prankster mentality that they were known for.
