tropey/cliche is fine so long as it has some originality to it. I like that he wasn't some reincarnated absurdly op master wizard, but someone who had suffered for his genuine lack of natural talent. Still, I hope he doesn't end up steamrolling everything from this point. Ideally, he would essentially be brought to the level of the average/slightly above average mage in terms of his natural ability, and be all the more eager to grow after living a life as someone talentless.

I prefer when the regressors have a hard first life before regressing it makes it feel nicer when they get op cheat skills and stuff
