idk my guess is the TL f'ed up and he gets the reward if he loses against her or smth, but if it was then it was not a one time mistake since the system stated it more than once that he should win.

Yeah, this adaptation hasn't been doing a good job of it, but what MC is following specifically is "the prophecy", not "the system". The system is just a step/tool for the prophecy, there's some leniency in the system with optional quests, the only thing that needs to be followed to a tee is the "Main Quest".
