It is a bit weird atm, story seems very vague, but it is explained in the spoiler below but guess what SPOILER(don't say I didn't warn you), This is what I've understood from reading spoilers here and there, it will be explained in the next few chapters better though, hopefully.

Spoiler: Story Spoilers WARNING-My Interpretation

Basically the nice teacher killed the mom(Regina), that's who the shadowy figure was when the duke said hes never been back stabbed, she did it because the knight that Regina went off with wanted her for the potential fangs power, but when she didn't have it he left, as when the teacher was shown in the flashback talking about a lover, that's who she referred to, the knight.

Spoiler: Better explination SPOILER-Someone elses interpretation

Regina had leo and lived nearby BUT because she had run away and the knight abandoned her (he is a noble who was trying to steal the beasts fangs for the south) but he thought Leo did not have them so abandoned them. Regina gave leo to the orphanage because she couldn't make money and feed both of them. Later Leo died and regina went on a rampage but in this timeline MC was put in Leos body and escaped but regina still died. Maybe she finaly was able to pass on knowing Leo was safe maybe something else.

Also that was what LEO the MC version could remember on average most people cant remember things before the age of 4 if leo was 5 when she arrived lived as the OG leo for a year then MC took over that would make sense. Also not every body hopping transmigrator can access ALL the memories the body originally had

From all that's writen so far, and accounting for the approximative translation, the mother's dead.
"Regina will come" just means her remains will be brought back from the place near the orphanage where they were found. Considering the previous chapters, Regina's father went there to retrieve them and bury his child on HIS family's estate, and not the duke's as the TL says. She "disgraced the Voleotis", no way she's getting buried in their estate.
