Okay, if what they say was true, this is some kind of alternative dimension Earth, both humans and demons somehow evolved or came into existence.

Demons hunted human as food source, some morons worshipped them but some eventually risen up and turn the tide into stalemate.

Then some big idiot thought "hey, we won't HUNT you, you don't HUNT us, okay?", divide Earth in half and left few humans behind as cattles for demons to feed... great idea.

Moreover, there's numerous plantations where people get inseminated, raised and killed for food like a livestock... that's a heartless thing to do, knowing somewhere people are nothing but animals to be feed on. Kids will probably stumble upon a breeding pen eventually, that gonna be a shocker...

Yeah, most likely the other half of the world is way more advanced, judging by that pretty advanced pen shooting holograms and whatnot.

Unless, human side is kind of wasteland and keeping the ancient pact is there for demons not curb stomp them.
