NOTE: Long rant! Excuse me. I've put up with this for like 5 chapters and it's bugging the shit out of me.
I don't understand this shit... It's a manga yes.. Shit is made up, yes... I get that.
However, Empress Dowagers are not all powerful and they damn sure weren't able to flat out trash talk the Emperor in a room full of people.... The main role they played aside from being a widow of the late Emperor and mother of the new Emperor(not always the case though), they only took over in political matters for the "new emperor" if he was a child. Meaning the heir to the throne was a child, the Emperor dies, the child ascends to the throne, the Dowager takes the reigns until he's old enough to take over. The child Emperor wouldn't even have to listen to her advice if he didn't want to because in actuality what he said goes. So, for this old ass bag to openly oppose the current "RULER of HUMANS" I don't understand how the hell she's not dead, I mean I guess it'll be explained more in the future and it could have something to do with the spirit people since she was literally standing in a dungeon/laboratory type place.

@codydub03 in general, yes. There have been a few recorded exceptions to the norm due to exceptional circumstance including, as recently as the 1860’s, Dowager Empress Cixi. The D.E. Actually forcefully put the emperor under house arrest for the remainder of their lives .
So allowing for some liberties in crafting the story, it is quite possible to end up with this scenario. Although it remains to be seen at this chapter if the author will botch the artifice allowing for this particular setup.
