If such phrasing coincides in similarity as if mentioning a previous work, then it makes sense to avoid references in the translation that aren’t there in the original. But what when it is literally the same spelling as the title? Keep the reference? I honestly don’t know how much the mangaka does the former and how much the latter.

oof must be rough, i get it can be an emotional time but feels like you shouldn't force yourself to walk on eggshells around your supposed 'friends' (then again JP culture can be suffocating as well, though i wouldn't be surprised if there was also Mean Girls clique that just roast ppl under the guise of 'brutal honesty')

I think it's fine if the author themselves purposefully did so, i would expect at least one ref/easter egg at one point but nothing wrong with it being self contained lol
