Yeah people are acting like you don't find those kind of fakes and clickes in the work place too
True, but I think school is unique in both how encompassing it is for the people in it, while being short enough that you don't really have a chance to do anything but at first try to adapt, and if it fails, best to just wait it out. Workplace is often bigger and more, how to say, task-structured, you have your closest coworkers and direct boss that you have to learn how to cooperate with, then farther rings of people who don't matter that much, but you can still befriend some of them. And often you can ignore the work's social side to large degree, get your work done, take your paycheck and hang out with your buddies from local bowling club, fellow fishers, aerobic class, or even friends from high school or college who are still nearby.
Also, in high school there is no formal hierarchy among students (outside of older/younger in Japan etc.), so it develops its own social world, while work is more structured.
